#BookReview: YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER by Sarah Hogle @witchofthewords @PiatkusBooks

Publication: 11th February 2021 – Piatkus

Meet Naomi and Nicholas: the Perfect Couple.

Their glorious, lavish wedding is coming up in three short months . . . and they are utterly, miserably sick of each other.

Unfortunately, whoever backs out first will end up bearing the brunt of the wedding bill. When Naomi finds out that Nicholas has been feigning contentment too, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of sabotage, pranks, and all-out emotional warfare to see who can annoy the other into surrendering first.

Now that they have nothing to lose, they’re finally being themselves. In fact, they’re having so much fun getting on each other’s nerves that it starts to feel like something else entirely…

Perfect for fans of Helen Hoang’s The Love Quotient and Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game, YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER is laugh-out-loud funny, painfully relatable, and bitingly smart.

**********

Hilarious, romantic, witty, addictive. That’s how I would describe You Deserve Each Other, the fantastic novel by Sarah Hogle. I had so much fun reading this novel, I often had tears in my eyes from laughing. The two protagonists, Naomi and Nicholas, are amazing. I adored them and their story.

Naomi and Nicholas have been together for two years. They live together and they are about to get married, but Naomi is not as excited as she should be about the wedding. His parents are paying for it and his overbearing mother is choosing everything from the flowers and the food to her wedding dress and the bridesmaids. Also, she is not sure if she still loves Nicholas, but there is no way that she is going to be the one to break it off. When she finds out that Nicholas is not so thrilled about the wedding either, they start a war and play games and pranks on each other to push the other to end the relationship.

Even though at the beginning I found the two protagonists a tiny bit annoying, I quickly grew to love them and I rooted for them and their story. Both Naomi and Nicholas felt authentic and I enjoyed their wit and their bickering and I couldn’t put the book down.

You Deserve Each Other has everything a great rom-com needs: there is a lot of humor and a lot of romance. The characters are incredible and likable (except, of course, for the villain future mother-in-law), and the writing is addictive. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Highly recommended!

A huge thank you to Piaktus and NetGalley for providing me with a proof of this novel.
