I had so much fun reading this book. Flappy Entertains is entertaining, light-hearted, and refreshing, exactly what we need to right now to cheer us up.
Flappy Scott-Booth is the queen of Badley Compton. Everyone knows that the first row in church at Sunday mass belongs to her. No party is complete without her. Her husband owns the local golf club and they have gardeners, a cook, and Flappy has just hired her own PA. Everyone wants to be her friends and she is always in control until the Harvey-Smiths move to the village. Hedda Harvey-Smith seems oblivious to Flappy’s social position, while her husband Charles captures Flappy’s attention and heart.
Santa Montefiore wrote another fantastic novel that will capture you from the very beginning. I loved the small community setting full of gossip, jealousies, and social ranks to respect. Flappy is a fantastic character. The perfect host with always the right food and the right wine. The seemingly well-read book club leader who secretly reads the Daily Mail and asks her PA to find the right book to propose at the next meeting. The yoga guru who is building her meditation nook to hide a huge secret. She really made me laugh and I liked how she developed throughout the novel.
Charming, enchanting, and witty, Flappy Entertains is the perfect read to escape for a few hours of entertainment and laughter. Highly recommended!
